9:30 AM - Valley of the Temples:
Arrive at the Valley of the Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Sicily’s most important archaeological areas. Here, you’ll visit some of the best-preserved ancient Greek ruins in the world.
Explore the magnificent Temple of Concordia, Temple of Juno, and the Temple of Heracles, marveling at the grand structures and learning about the history of the ancient city of Akragas (modern-day Agrigento).
As you wander through the site, your guide will explain the significance of these temples, offering insights into the ancient Greek civilization that once flourished here.
12:00 PM - Lunch in a Sicilian Restaurant:
After exploring the Valley of the Temples, enjoy a traditional Sicilian lunch at a local restaurant. Savor dishes made from the freshest ingredients, such as caponata, arancini, pasta alla Norma, and locally caught fish or seafood.
You’ll also taste some of Sicily’s delicious desserts like cannoli or granita (a refreshing frozen dessert).
1:30 PM - Mount Etna Adventure:
After lunch, journey to Mount Etna, one of the most active volcanoes in the world and a symbol of Sicily's natural power. Along the way, you’ll hear about the geological history of the volcano and its frequent eruptions.
Upon arrival, board the cable car that will take you up the slopes of the mountain. Depending on the weather and volcanic activity, you may also take an off-road vehicle ride up to the near-crater areas, where you’ll be able to witness the incredible volcanic landscape up close.
Your guide will explain the formation of Mount Etna, and you may even have the opportunity to witness steam vents, craters, and lava flows from previous eruptions (weather permitting).
3:30 PM - Vineyard Visit (Optional):
If time allows, take a detour to one of the local vineyards on Mount Etna’s slopes. Known for its unique volcanic soil, the region produces distinct wines that have gained international acclaim.
Enjoy a wine tasting where you’ll sample wines made from native Sicilian grape varieties, such as Nerello Mascalese and Carricante. Learn how the volcanic terroir influences the flavors of the wines.
4:30 PM - Return to Catania or Palermo:
After a memorable day of exploring ancient ruins and volcanic landscapes, return to your hotel or a central location in Catania or Palermo.
You’ll arrive by approximately 5:30 PM, with a wealth of unforgettable memories from this adventure in Sicily.
